Breeders Cup Preview

Pony Picks

This coming weekend, Breeders Cup betting enthusiasts will have the opportunity to bet on 15 of a possible 193 horses entered into the 48 hour 15 race Breeders Cup tournament at Churchill Downs in Louisville Kentucky. For thoroughbred owner Mike Repole, he has the opportunity to watch not one but two of his bookie software thoroughbreds contend for the grandest opportunity of them all, the Breeders Cup Classic trophy. Here is a preview of the Breeders Cup Classic.

It has been a long year for Mike Repole, as his horses Uncle Mo and Stay Thirsty have hardly lived up to expectations this season. In the spring, Uncle Mo had to pull out of the NFL Triple Crown due to illness. Meanwhile, the way that Stay Thirsty performed at the Triple Crown, made bettors think they had an illness. However, as the season progressed, both colts came into their own, as they developed into solid picks at some of the biggest races across the nation.

On paper, Uncle Mo and Stay Thirsty, enter the Breeders Cup Classic, as two of the favorites to at the very least, be on the podium by races end. Uncle Mo has odds of five to two to win the Classic, while Stay Thirsty is an eight to one favorite to win the race. Stay Thirsty has won two major Grade I stakes races, in the Jim Dandy and Traverse Stakes. Meanwhile, Uncle Mo has resurrected its career as of late August, winning several marquee races.

Theoretically, the duo should be one and two on the podium, with four year old filly Havre De Grace slotting in as a distant third. Yet, with that in mind, it is also important to not underestimate Havre De Grace, as she has destroyed several male fields this season.
