Early Favorites For 2011 Kentucky Derby
The 2011 Kentucky Derby is less than two months away and many horse racing enthusiasts are focusing on the March Madness betting tournament set to conclude next week. After the tournament concludes, many horse betting enthusiast will be searching for that extra detail, to pick the right thoroughbred for the Kentucky Derby on May 7, 2011. Here is a look at some of the early favorites for the race.
To Honor And Serve - The son of 2010 sire of the year Bernardini, To Honor And Serve, by far has become the best offspring of Bernardini's first foal in 2008. Since the middle of the 2010 racing season, To Honor And Serve has shown its fans that the Kentucky Derby isn't out of the realm of possibility, as the mighty thoroughbred has won several races in impressive fashion at the Grade II level. Despite placing third in its most recent race, To Honor And Serve has never been out of the money in a race yet.
Normally, ridden by John Velazquez, To Honor And Serve recently switched jockey's to Garrett Gomez. For horse bettors new to handicapping jockeys, know that Gomez is just as good as Velazquez and To Honor And Serve should be considered a serious threat for the Kentucky Derby Crown.
Dialed In - Trained by Nick Zito, Dialed In provides fans with the type of excitement they thought they were going to lose when Zenyatta retired. Having only run three times since November, Dialed In has left a lasting impression on its fan base. For instance, at its most recent race the Holy Bull Stakes Grade III, Dialed In was dead last for the majority of the race. However, entering the final turn of the race, Dialed In began making its move to the front of the field, and ultimately would win the race by more than three lengths.
